When your hobby is your job it's easy to lose your passion for it, and I don't know if it's a result of modernity, but things that have broad appeal tend to be the most soulless. When the shit you churn out is more popular than your passion projects it's hard to care.

Music for the most part is just shit, an arrangement of sounds with the intent of you force-feeling an emotion, its not healthy to switch your moods up so quickly, music can also be used to cement ideas that are negative, with various accents in the music you can genuinly wake up in a good natural mood, put on some music and then it can just go to shit

This happened with Muse, Arcade Fire, Marylin Manson, and Birthday Massacre. One band I discovered, Moth, had a fantastic first album, but everything afterward just sounded like generic rock. Very disappointing.

I went to a small, underground mixed hardcore punk/metal gig in the late 2000s and it was like 80% men, and I think there were even some crust punk influences there which seems to attract women for whatever reason.
