I was trying to read the Poetic Edda but the translator is a fucking hack. So I need to find a better version. Might try out that meme lord Jack Crawford.

>Where are you at in the Bible?
2 Peter. Very based stuff, he trashes on hedonists while reminding christians to not fall into hedonism.

>I bought a set of civil war books over a month ago and never started

I have a hard time reading books like that because I'm sure I'm already redpilled to reality and I'm not sure what reading more books about the civil war would do for me. Maybe if my hobby was debate or something? Otherwise what is the practical purpose of reading, reading, reading. I don't know how /lit/ hobbyists get the motivation.

Ah yes, Peter
>"Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to the king as the supreme authority, or to governors as those sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to praise those who do right." (1 Peter 2:13-14)

Yes, following human instituions IN GENERAL is necessary for a healthy society, however, christians should not disobey God in order to obey men.

 No.101447

>>101446
The Bible is pretty clear that the government is ordained by God and a good Christian must obey it
>"Obey the government, for God is the One who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the law of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow. (Romans 13:1-2)
Even Jesus set a crystal clear example on this matter by submitting to the Jewish authorities and then his torture and execution by the Romans. Your very god died in a government mandated execution and didn't lift a finger against his captors

 No.101448

>>101447
Yes and the bible is also very clear that God comes before men? Would you like to continue this back and forth? disingenuous atheist?

If we are killed for our beliefs by the government, then so be it. Correct.

>Ephesians 6:12 states that "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." This verse is part of the Book of Ephesians, which is traditionally believed to have been written by the Apostle Paul.

Well that's bizarre seeing as he apparently also wrote Romans. So the apostle is actively contradicting himself it seems.

 No.101455

>For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world

Those are categories of angels lmao.

Rulers
Authorities
powers

All of the dark world

He's talking about angels and demons.

hahahah these atheists put no effort into their theology before going online. Why would they? They don't care about anything except where they will get their next pleasure.

 No.101457

>>101453
Although it doesn't matter if the law of the land contradicts the moral law, then the moral law will win out, otherwise it is wise to obey those in authority.

These posts are coming from the same people that give niggers shit for never obeying authority, oh the irony.

It's a mixed bag. I'm not going to sit here and say it's the greatest game ever made, it's not, but playing it helps make a feeling of accomplishing something so that helps string me along.

I'm not an atheist, I have behold the glory of the Lord directly with my own eyes

>If we are killed for our beliefs by the government, then so be it. Correct.

This is the correct Christian attitude. Allow your enemies to kill you (just like Jesus) so you go to magic happy land forever

One day I need to get around to reading-up and giving Christianity a proper review. All I'll say for now is that I believe it's built on poor foundations, but ideas can manifest differently in different people.

 No.101480

Its quite simple really and he made it that way. If he can forgive the world for nailing him to a cross then we should forgive the stuff in our lives. Because grudges and revenge send ourselves and the world to personal and literal Hell.

I been reading this book for a while "Gödel, Esher, Bach" and it is really fun and informative. I have a hard time summarizing it just yet but it's basically tying together these three Individuals works plus generally going over the developments in logic, art, music, etc that they were part of along with ppl like lewis carrol and zeno. There are segments with fun dialogs and it generally has a humorous tone to it

I been watching some comfy star trek eps every once in a while and playing a bit of an old nostalgic game for me megaman zero

Hope u all are having a swell weekend too

>Whatcha playing?
Minecraft. Microshart stole my account so playing singleplayer with pollycraft. Still a bit pissed since I had that account since indev. Also tried LCS: New Age but it's been enshittified. Doesn't hold a candle to the og game. I ended up finishing a run but it left a sour taste in my mouth.

Bardic Broadcasts still, mostly. Dude has been trying and failing to get through Shadow of the Beast. He's a trooper for continuing. Occasionally watch Retro Island Gaming but he hasn't been streaming as much since his house exploded.
