There's no real official 4chan alternative, i guess /co/'s bunker at plus4chan counts , so everyone is at a hundred different image boards. Plus reddit, facebook or wherever anons came from before they discovered 4chan.
Refugees are even using the comments section at https://downdetector.com/status/4chan/ to shitpost at now. They're calling it /downs/ and have made over 5000 comments have been made since 4chan went down.

Personally, I've been lurking the kiwi site because they're obsessive enough to be up to date on 4chan's status and I've been looking through various other chans to see if there's an actual good alt. This one seems the most normal to me.

I think 99% of the refugees are also lurking random alts, because everywhere else feels too strange to post at. The topics or posters aren't familiar enough to evoke... communication.

I think it's weird that so many alt chans are still alive, since most of them only existed due to 4chan being so unstable for its first 7 or so years. Places like wakachan actually got big and coexisted with 4chan after 4chan became stable, but it was an alt chan still and was too big to stay alive. Smaller sites i guess managed to stick around due to finding smaller communities comfy... or stubborn owners.

There weren't that many (real) people using 4chan to begin with. When you take into account phoneposters constantly hopping ips and the flood of bots and seamonkeys, there were probably only a few thousand active posters on the whole site. Moot mentioned that the number of ratio of lurkers to posters was pretty huge as well. Most of the traffic was from people who did not post.

It seems like the various /v/ boards, /vt/, and /trash/ all wound up on 8chan.moe. /pol/ seems to have just disappeared into the ether. A few of them are on 8kun of all places.

8chan has been nice. I've been pretty impressed with it overall.

I mainly posted on two boards, but i spent most of my computer time on 4 other boards. So i'd lurk /tv/ and /v/ for hours a day, but I probably make like 5 posts a year on those boards. I'd like to think most people are like that too, which is why 4chan never gets old.

I've regged a few internet places since the 90s and when a place gets old, it gets pretty shit. No new blood makes for boring discussions and eventually kills a chat/forum/whatever, but newfags generally don't mesh into the community. A lurker who knows the board doesn't stick out like a newfag, adds real incite into the topic, and keeps the board/thread fresh.

So even dead franchises like Star Trek would get some really good discussions going, despite that franchise being discussed to death since it died in 2005. You can tell "new" people would add their two cents, even if the main posters for those threads have been there for year.

the majority of the site at this point at least the big boards like nu/pol/ were like 99% normies at this point. there are no other boards that are a decent replacement like 4chon was. 4chon is still pretty good tho

For the most part I'm just waiting for it to come back online. Even with the bots in the end, it was still a good source of happenings to look further into. Stopped being good in any way after the beginning of COVID. At least in the beginning we got sneak peeks of apartments being welded shut and shit like that. Unintelligible noise past that.

Probably turned off by the zoomer devcuck micromanaging so much shit here for no reason.
