S-Should I upgrade to Win 11? I've got W10. Fuck I hate needing to update my OS. I think this is my 5th PC I've built overall. I'm 35.

 No.103200

Yes

 No.103202

Dude it f*cking sucks don't do it lol heh

 No.103210

there's no reason to. but if u must, use winutil and win11debloat afterwards. don't forget to install simplewall, and only allow processes/services that absolutely need internet (u can always allow afterwards if u accidentally disallowed something that u rly need internet for), wouldnt want ur crypto wallet to be stolen thru some random powershell script running in the background

insdall gendoo :DDD

 No.103271

Absolutely do not. So long as I can hold out, I am never "updating" to an even shittier system. Microsoft can go fuck itself.

i would use the win1 on devices i own only if i was something like "content creator" who absolutely has to run the latest legit licensed version of (((adobe))) or (((msoffice))) for legal business reasons, when i may get caught and fined for not doing so.

windows 10 ltsc with auto updates disabled, works like windows 7 somewhat and still has most of the hardware support. lots of gay behaviors can be disabled with shutup10, winaero tweaker, simplewall and like a dozen of registry keys

windows os is dead and eol for me personally, haven't really used it in last 3 years, had to use win11 on a work computer for a bit, what a shitshow, laggy and buggy af (coworker prefers to use an ipad over it) and feels like digital kiosk screen with adware. (they gave me a macbook later). lot's of ui stuff gets drawn using msedgewebview2.exe

arch with any of xfce, mate, budgie, sway, i3, hyperland, kde ui is the new-old form of cope for personal peecees ( for sway, hyperland see https://arewewaylandyet.com/ ). you can always buy a macbook as well which now seems to be going in similar questionable jeet slop direction of win 11. since like 2004 there is nothing really left to "innovate" in that 90s desktop ui that both macos and windong have, so each product manager tries changing around random things and leaves an incomplete mess before leaving the company within ~2-3 years.

I still need wangblows for GAYMs though. WINE is still in a pain in the ass, and sometimes it seems like it gets worse when it has updates even.

It's too bad reactOS is never going to be finished.

They shot themselves in the ass when they refused to look at the windows xp source code leak. The answers were there in front of them, but they had such a huge stick up their asses about "m$soft" that they wouldn't use them. Then everyone who wasn't a communist ideologue left.

Then they're just pussies and lawcucks with a gimped os that hasn't had any real progress in years.

it takes time with unpaid volunteers, and progress in major software projects often isn't linear, even wine with full-time employees was unusable until mid 2010s (launch of wine-staging branch in 2014 and then proton/dxvk in 2018 being the biggest milestones)

they shot themselves in the foot when they didn't approach the work by building out windows executables and libraries one by one as specced-out drop-in replacements that would work within a stock windows system to avoid diverging from how the thing they're copying actually works

Migrating back to Firefox since they finally added the ability to restart GPU process (which climbs up to several GB sometimes after a while from memory leaks) in the task manager without restarting the browser, HDV's browser Brave is just too buggy.

I'm not sure my funds are safu. I've been thinking about getting a PC to keep offline to test stuff. I don't think I have one yet. Been thinking about it for years lol. I might be too dumbo.
