Why have you decided to quit caffeine? I've been thinking about quitting, because I believe it's causing acid reflux.

>>61603He's saying the sources are wrong. But idk how he can say that, e.g.:
>There is no scientific substantiation that Chocolate contains caffeineBut there seems to be heaps of articles that say it e.g.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27613945/https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22692392/Idk why this guy is so adamant about it.
Anyway:
>When cocoa beans are liquefied, the resulting liquid contains cocoa butter and cocoa solids. I thought something like that was happening. So cocoa butter probs has trace amounts of caffeine. If I want zero caffeine I actually want zero, not .01mg or whatever.
>>616081. I wanted to see what it was like to go off. I wanted to see what my true self was, i.e. my self without caffeine. In a word I'm much calmer, more stoic, have FAR more balanced energy (I can read literally ALL day, whether its right after waking up or before going to bed, and my cognition is very very similar) and also more productive, which is its own discussion...
2. I do DXM and it doesn't mix that well with it (generally, unless you do low doses of DXM plus caffeine, which is actually very comfy and euphoric, but otherwise it becomes too stimmy). It also makes it harder to sleep which is hard enough after using DXM itself.
3. When I was tapering off (switching from e.g. 6 shots or cups of espresso a day to 2-3) I started noticing, when I would have all my caffeine after waking at 8-9-10AM, that I would get a bad withdrawl (anxiety+depression basically) around 3-4pm and on (the evening).
Probably the biggest reason I stopped is the last point, I eventually internalized the reality that "I like the high but I dislike the withdrawl even more".
There's always a risk of relapse when I read about this stuff, its just human nature to want to do stuff you read about. Having dark chocolate by itself would be interesting, I substituted some espresso for Lindt dark choc when I was tapering off, it did seem to have its own kick, probably caffeine+theobromine+some smaller amounts of other drugs.
I did notice dark choc (due to the theobromine??) was subtler and gave off more feelings off well being and was less stimmy than coffee, so he has that point going for him. Theobromine or dark choc is obviously addictive though, there is no debate there...

Why Women Crave Sugary Foods More Than Men
>cathe.com/why-women-crave-sugary-foods-more-than-men/
According to Dr. Kenneth Onyango, women have lower levels of neurotransmitters, like serotonin, that helps regulate mood and appetite, and eating more of certain foods boosts serotonin’s activity. Plus, eating sugary foods may also stimulate the release of endorphins, chemicals that produce a sense of calm and well-being. More recent studies using imaging studies suggest that women have fewer binding sites for serotonin in the brain relative to men. This finding may also explain why women are more prone to anxiety and depression and why women struggle more with emotional eating. Eating sugary foods is a way to get a serotonin boost.
Sugar and its effect on Women’s Health
>movementformodernlife.com/blog/sugar-womens-health/
Suffice to say, most women have an innately higher craving for the sweet stuff than men. Nonetheless it may come as a surprise to hear that our sugar demands have serious biological backing. Evidence suggests that:
• Elevated oestrogen levels and hormonal fluctuations throughout the month may be connected to our sugar cravings.
• Sugar raises our levels of serotonin – a neurotransmitter made in the brain responsible for regulating mood. Women naturally have lower levels of serotonin than men and are, therefore, more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety. So on a biochemical level, we would be forgiven for reaching for that afternoon hobnob.
• Women need a certain percentage of body fat (approximately 20%) in order to maintain and sustain a pregnancy to full-term.
Study: women like sweets more than men
>upi.com/Science_News/2004/09/28/53181096404991/
"Women, more than men, do tend to prefer sweetened, fattened foods like chocolate," Collins said. "This may be because their brain tells them they must eat high calorie foods so they could survive giving birth during a famine." In the U.S. study, male and female rodents ate the same amounts of a meat and potato mix. But when sweet milk was added, females ate 30 percent more.

A way of doing it I like is what I can call "staircase" e.g:
1/2 shot daily for a week, then 1/3 shot daily for a week, 1/4 shot for a week, etc... It's psychologically easier than doing less every day
