what is consciousness?

 No.70588

when my brain screams at me to do stuff when i just want to lie down or sleep.

 No.70609

It's the experience of the brain's activity.

The foundation of reality. Consciousness enters into an individual nervous system to perceive localized time and space

This was convincing to me. So much so that I don't quite feel like reading more about consciousness for a while if I ever do.

He says there is no hard problem because consciousness = mind and that there is abstract material/physical reality outside consciousness.

Succinctly put.

Why not actually read a book by someone qualified in neuroscience instead of some guy writing about things he has no clue about?

I think he's qualified enough. I think his parents were well off and I'm jealous

But he objectively isn't qualified enough. He doesn't know neuroscience and he has no training or experience in the field at all.

Yeah, that's how it works. If you study a thing you become more educated on it. He hasn't studied the field and has no specialization or training in it. It'd be like a world class doctor and fitness instructor trying to tell you how to fix your car. Being educated in different fields doesn't translate to expertise in other fields. A world class doctor isn't a mechanic. And this guy isn't a neuroscientist. So why would you take "no qualifications at all" to be "qualified enough"? That just makes no sense.

Like this is a textbook I have about neuroscience. With several people there who have PhDs in the field. And you can see the topic is broad and very complicated. These are things you generally wanna know. Some guy talking a bunch of philosophy or "heres what i think" doesn't mean a whole lot. Not in this case anyway. So if his zero qualifications is qualified enough surely like half a dozen experts with doctorates in the specific field of neuroscience is even better.

I thought consciousness was a field of philosophy, or in the field. I'm not familiar with what neuroscience is at all.

This. We're not talking about doing lobotomies over here.

It has nothing to do with philosophy. That's the excuse grifters use when (like the other guy posted) they have no relevant experience or expertise or education in the field. Grown ups actually consult the relevant fields.

I'm open to being corrected but I think you are dead wrong, bud. There is obviously a link between the brain and consciousness, which can be seen or inferred through the use of drugs/psychoactive drugs/mind altering drugs etc etc, but what that link is, exactly, is subject to contention because it's not a direct link and you probably know how or why that is.

 No.70711

>>70697
Yes, they can.

>>70705
>I'm open to being corrected but I think you are dead wrong, bud.
That's why you should learn about actual neuroscience and the study of consciousness from the people who study and work in the field instead of some guy who has quite literally not a single relevant qualification.

 No.70714

>>70711
>instead of some guy who has quite literally not a single relevant qualification
Consciousness is common to all humans and nearly all life. One doesn't need a kike degree to speak on the subject. You're resorting to ad hominem because you have nothing else

Not a single byte of bullshit replication crisis research data can be perceived independently of consciousness

 No.70718

>>70714
>Consciousness is common to all humans and nearly all life.
Doesn't matter if it's common to all humans. Having a body and illness is common to all humans, that'll never make you a doctor. That's coping. And almost all life doesn't have any. At least if you by sheer amount.

>You're resorting to ad hominem because you have nothing else

I didn't use an ad hominem or any fallacy actually. Saying you should consult experts on consciousness to understand consciousness is a simple fact. Same as if I told you to visit a doctor for illness and not some mechanic. You consulted a philosopher who has never worked in any field even dealing with consciousness on consciousness. That's a very poor move.

Ironically doctors are nothing more than vampires and mass murderers these days. A more qualified medical reference could be found in a homeless heroin addict, or a voodoo practitioner

>You consulted a philosopher who has never worked in any field even dealing with consciousness on consciousness

Yes, we've already established that you only accept (((academic))) material science as valid. How many covid shots have you received?

>Yes, they can.
They cannot. One of the the oldest defenses for trannyism is "MUH BRAIN SCANS" in fact. These are the people who were shilling lobotomies back in the day, and they're shilling all manner of pharmaceuticals now. What exactly do they do that merits having any faith in their conclusions?
>>70718

They are not though.

 No.70731

>>70719
>Ironically doctors are nothing more than vampires and mass murderers these days. A more qualified medical reference could be found in a homeless heroin addict, or a voodoo practitioner
Completely irrelevant to the point. The point being that having a consciousness no more makes you an expert on it than having a body makes you a doctor. I own a car. That doesn't mean I'm just as good as a mechanic.

>Yes, we've already established that you only accept (((academic))) material science as valid. How many covid shots have you received?

So another evasion of the point and deflection. And I got 0. So did you want to address anything I said or should I accept your concession here?

 No.70732

>>70721
>They cannot.
Yeah, they can.

>They are not though.

Who is more of an expert on consciousness:

A. One random guy with zero experience or education in the field. No degrees of any kind regarding subjects dealing with human consciousness, its activity, origins, nature, etc.

B. Nearly a dozen people with doctorates studying neuroscience which includes the brain and the entire human nervous system.

 No.70733

>>70731
>Completely irrelevant to the point
I am pointing out two things-
1. Academic credentials are irrelevant at best and dangerous at worst
2. Your trust in academic credentials has led to your own demise and the extinction of your bloodline

 No.70735

>>70733
>1. Academic credentials are irrelevant at best and dangerous at worst
Which is false. That's your error. I'm citing experts in the field of neuroscience. People who study and deal with consciousness. Their degrees do matter. The degrees that do not matter are your guy's irrelevant degrees. Because he may have some, none of them are related to consciousness.

>Your trust in academic credentials has led to your own demise and the extinction of your bloodline

As opposed to your trust in some guy who never studied the field? I don't get your point. I'm citing people who study consciousness. Just like I'd cite a mechanic for how to fix a car or a mathematician for a math question. You're trying to tell me to trust some guy who didn't even study it over the people that do? It's absurd. Who exactly is one supposed to refer to if they want the best understanding of a given topic? Probably the ones who study it and specialize in it.
