Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga trailer 1 (releasing mid-May 24)

 No.77182

2nd trailer dropped 3 days ago.

Honestly I am excited for this but very concerned about the CGI and Anya-Taylor Joy's acting. I'm guessing the film will be good, maybe great, but not amazing like the Fury Road was (imo). Guesstimating a 85% RT critics/audience score

also, I'm really fucking sick of the jump cuts being in time with the pumps of bass that every horror/thriller trailer has had for the last 13 fucking years, that and the siren-esque drone chainsaw sounding shit, absolute horseshit, the kike media complex is a totem of stagnation and repetition

I had to watch the trailer a few times to figure out what you meant by the chainsaw thing lol. But I know what you mean about the jump cuts and the bass.

Though I'm not sure I've really been on the ball when it comes to horror/thriller trailers in the past decade, which might be odd because I like thrillers a lot (not so much horror, it depends on the "sub-genre"). If a film is enough close to my fav genres I'll avoid the trailers (or watch a teeny bit) and just wait for the torrent and start watching, or even watch in the cinema. I did this with 65 (watched it in cinema) though it was... very average (nice visuals though). Sometimes I'll also download the soundtrack and listen to it before I watch the film. Might sound odd but its very cool to recognize what you've been listening to while you're in the cinema or watching it through for the firs time - and watch for how e.g. it pushes the tension, or relaxes it, and so on. I thought the sound in the first Furiosa trailer was v. v. good. I'd say there's a 50/50 chance the Hemsworth character doesn't actually say the line "the question is, do you have it in you to make it epic?" because it sounds like a good trailer bite and -possibly- not something the char will say in the actual film.

But quite a few films now I'll start watching, and give up after 10-15 mins because I'm -actually- starting value my time more. I -was- watching bits of Thanksgiving 2023 while I was eating, but it's not really kept my attention and it's not the kind of film I cbb sitting down and watching for itself

I watched the "movie" which was kind of stupid of me as it was just a spark notes version of the first season or so. Just got back from watching DUNE PART TWO at IMAX SYDNEY. WOW! What an experience! I was also high on 7 tabs of Robocough but it would've been really good without anyway.

I'm gonna write more later but it was really legitimately good.

Well the Dune torrent is out anyway so u niggas can decide for yourself if it's worth going to see it, from watching some bits from the torrent, but I actually recommend it, I mean if you like this genre. I'm finding it hard to think up anything that would top this in the next few years, in terms of an IMAX experience, aside from Dune THREE. Don't watch this if you've considered it, it absolutely sucks. The action in the first ep is decent, space thriller-ey, but the rest of the next few eps have so much filler and it's so slow and drama-ey. Aside from (Noomi) Rapace who is great, all the actors and acting sucks, especially the scenes with the father and daughter. I noticed the action was dropping off in the first ep and gave up the show for a while, then came back to it and regretted it. Up to the final two, 7th/8th eps now and idk if I can even get through them.

Just watched Godzilla: Minus One. Definitely should've watched it in imax. It's by far the best Godzilla film I've seen, much better than the 2014 one. The effects are spectacular. It has big tension and you feel for the characters even though they're nips. I feel more connected to Japan now because of this. It's what Godzilla is really supposed to be - a monster; unpredictable, wild, terrifying, an obvious metaphor for the atom bomb and its threat. It's a feast for the eyes, honestly left me s bit shaken and it had scenes and maybe motifs similar to what I thought up as a child when I thought up my own story. Really makes you respect Japan.

Furiosa NO SPOILERS review

Watched this at Sydney IMAX yesterday (23/5).

It is a very very good film - actually excellent - or IN FACT even a masterpiece for what it intends to be.

The main concerns I had were with Taylor-Joy's acting and the CGI, particularly relating to the sand and desertscapes but relating to the explosions and action/car stunts as well. The CGI concerns really didn't pan out, the ground/sand looks significantly better than it does in the trailers and otherwise the film is very visually exciting and well done. I think you'd have to be pretty spoiled to criticize the CGI.

I think some people might not be sold on Taylor-Joy's acting. I was, she had a very hard role and shoes to fill. I think she was convincing but it's hard to go into without giving something away. Also, before Taylor-Joy there was a girl acting as about a 10-11 year old/prepuberty Furiosa and she also did very well - in fact she stood out.

The film is intelligent, quite literary, poetic and even allusive. It's more intelligent than the trailers lead on; it's very clear the world has been thought out very well by Miller et al.

The way that the warlord leaders draw influence is very convincing. Interestingly I found Immortan Joe to have even GREATER of a presence in this film.

So it's a very good film in terms of setting up Fury Road, but also adding to the depth of it, in that it goes into the activities of the three bases (citadel, gas town, bullet farm).

Otherwise the sound direction is very good - Junkie XL stuff - really added to the tension when you hear pieces remixed from Fury Road.

All that about the film being said - I was thrown off in the cinema for a while because I had to tell two faggots to stfu (one Asian and SOUTHERN EURO behind me) - had to click at them and tell them to quiet down, so that adrenalized me for a few minutes. They did quiet down so that was good.

So I thought this might be like a shlockier Fury Road but it's not, it's a very impressive film. There's also some philosophy in it but I think CHONNERS might question me on that after seeing it.

There are also some quite clear homages or little specific references to Fury Road which you'd catch if you've seen it a few times, and those were both nice and done very well. And HONESTLY some of them made me a little EMOTIONAL!

Though I can still see some people attacking the film for its feminist influences or contrivances.

It's a problem with prequels in general. You can have a prequel in the same universe, but it needs to surround totally different characters or else you are forced to write yourself into a corner. It's hard to get an audience to care about your story when they already know what's going to happen. The stakes are rock-bottom, because the audience knows they're going to survive to the next movie and they know the conflict is going to get resolved. Prequels are half a movie, where the last 2 acts are effectively filler.

This is all 100% true, and it's even worse the more your main character is so horrible in the sequels that he cannot have a cohesive arc enough to carry a story.

>And he spends a whole trilogy lusting after a teenager
>But his parents were mean to him :(

Actually I need to add something else quickly. I felt gibbed because when I saw Dune 2 at IMAX it filled the entire screen. Whereas with this one, the screen was only filled approx 3/5 or maybe 5/8 or something. I actually thought there might have been some problem with the projection or otherwise screen thingy. But then googled it and it's just the Furiosa aspect ratio... It's disappointing really. I could really tell the difference between this and Dune 2.

The other thing is that in Dune 2 the seats were actually fricken' vibrating during the bass heavy scenes - and unfortunately NOTHING like that happened in this film. I'm pretty sure that was just the difference in sound design between the two films - this one didn't have anywhere near the bass of the other one. Though I was also high during Dune and wasn't yesterday, so I wonder if that actually made me feel more vibration. It's possible.

See in the 1st pic the IMAX intro is using the full screen whereas in the 2nd pic you can see the unused screen.

I think One Piece is good as a manga, but the anime suffers by toei's usual practice of creating filler and padding things to hell. It's like when you watch DBZ and there are episodes where characters just stand around being shocked about how strong someone is without much going on for the entire run-time. It's not always that bad, but it's the shounen loop I guess and most of us probably experienced it in our youth, where a show just seems like it's gone to complete shit, but then there's a short stretch of time where things getting better and the pacing isn't completely fucked which pulls you back in.

Chon synronicity I was going to post about DBZ but figure it wasn't really worth it. I watched it when I was like 10 or something (Cheez TV?) and then downloaded it again at 20 or something. It's a bit tiresome how slow it is because the actual story development is pretty great. I might be more interested in it to think about the training and power levels because I've been lifting for like 14 years now - and so for quite a few years I've been trying many different things, sometimes small, to try and add a little muscle mass or improve cardiovascular function or aerobic ability or flexibility or maybe balance or other things, in various ways.

Unlike DBZ which is undoubtedly KINO, except that it obviously declines as the series progresses and where the kino declines is a major point of contention. But the "Saiyan Saga" and "Freiza Saga" are obviously great. I think some people overstate how much it declines, the Cell and Buu stuff is still cool and interesting.

It became bullshit at how often the dragon balls became a plot device to fix every issue, ignoring their pre-established limitations. I don't really believe these rumors without very strong evidence. The easiest way to assassinate a person's character nowdays is to accuse them of being a pedophile, and miyazaki is a public figure. Not in Japan (or rest of Asia frankly), they have a whole "lolicon" anime/manga industry and "junior gravure idol" industry which would be illegal everywhere else in the "West" and culturally the Japanese are not obsessed like white people about being scared of pedophiles hiding under every rock ready to snatch their children or being like "SHE'S 17 YOU SICK FUCK." If Miyazaki declared that he's starting a lolicon manga I bet you it would sell well in Japan (and be illegal to import into elsewhere).

It's weird how polarized "age of consent" has become. I could see how someone could consider dating a teenager to be immoral, but claiming it's literal pedophilia or that it should be forbidden to fantasize about is retarded. It must be zoomers, because millennials were never such puritans. I've never read Oshinoko, but apparently a mass number of Westerners dropped it because they made a plot point around incest. Can you imagine people getting upset about Oreimo in 2010? How do people reconcile living in a world where moral standards keep radically shifting in the span of less than a few years? Because your reasons are bullshit. If it's because you hate kids, would hate to be a mother, are unable to overcome your inner demons (the pills, alcoholism, carbs/sugar, the care home, etc.) and can't find a suitable husband, that's one thing, but instead it's bullshit you've convinced yourself like any kids you have are guaranteed to be in a "suffering dystopian hellscape prison" when you know for example what your mother did wrong and what you'd need to do differently to be a better mother to your kids than her. Your complaints about your kids having to go to public or private schools are bullshit because you know there are affordable homeschooling group options (homeschooled students score significantly higher in SAT and ACT tests anyway), so as a responsible mother you'd know when to pull out any of your kids if they get bullied like you there, etc. etc., you have a lot of control over how your kids are raised.

Omni Loop 2024

>A quantum physicist finds herself stuck in a time loop with a black hole growing in her chest and only a week to live. When she meets a gifted student they team up to save her life and unlock the mysteries of time travel.

I thought this might be good but looking at the demographic of the leads idk.

That being said I think I'm gonna invite a sexy brown girl around to watch Alien: Romulus with me. Pretty excited to watch it, I think it has sexy brown girls in it anyway. Maybe we'll bang during the inevitable Ridley Scott BMWF sex scenes. Seriously that guy inserts race mixing into fucking everything, it's like he's puppeteer-ed, or he's just sick lol.

Iktf brother. Anywhere from a splash of brown to full Nubian darkness looks good to me. I think my ideal woman would perhaps be a caramel brown color

Oddly though, I saw a picture recently of a room full of beautiful castiza women, all slightly brown, and I felt strong repulsion. My mind searched for the philia of Aryan flesh, yet none was found

While playing BG3 goyslop, I also recently watched the goyslop of Arcane's second season. LoL is an absolute shit game run by psychopaths but the show, at least the first season, was fine by me. I enjoyed it. Things got a little badly edited near the end but otherwise, decent slop. Season two was really, really bad. They forgot about Jinx's mental illness and made her a lazy retard. Then they doubled down on forcing Cait and Vi lezzing out into a really abusive relationship where Cait emotionally manipulates and even assaults Vi. At one point, after Jinx tricks Vi into her cell so Jinx can go out and kill herself to stop Warwick, Cait somehow randomly knows how to find Vi and the two of them have a sex scene out of nowhere despite Jinx having gone out to kill herself. The alternative timeline shit with Ekko and Jinx being in a relationship despite them never having chemistry during any part of the series, it's funny how there were no straight, homogenous relationships in the show. Everyone was with a person from a different race just because omg how brave and powerful. The writing was all over the place, there's so much time that could've been cut down for other elements of the plot, I think it was the fifth episode where the first ten minutes served absolutely no purpose whatsoever. The only thing it had going for it was the visuals and a mildly interesting finale. Unfortunate.

I'm not going to tell you that it's worth watching, but I will say that season one was surprisingly good despite everything. For being on Netflix, it's leagues better than other adaptations. Certainly no Cowboy Bebop or Death Note.

CWC ruined sonic. I am filled with disgust every time I ever see anything sonic related. I can never enjoy anything sonic ever again in my life. CWC should have been murdered long ago and rolled up in a carpet and tossed off a bridge with a lake filled with piranhas. I hope there's time traveling Nazi's who can fix this. R.I.P it's okay. I never liked sonic anyway. Sonic... I've never heard of it.

I read it was because of the eyes. Sonic chars have HUGE exaggerated eyes and their facial expressions are extremely telegraphed, which makes it easier for autistic people to pick up on. Same reason spergs like moeshit anime.

As for how they got exposed to it, I don't know. I literally didn't know a single person who had a sega saturn/dreamcast growing up, and a lot of the sonic sperglords seem to like the characters from the 3d games. Sonic 1/2/3 for the genesis were popular but they were popular with normal people who liked arcade platformers moreso than weird autistics.
