A criminal case has been opened in Russia's Kaluga Region after an attempted arson attack on a synagogue.
On Wednesday morning, August 13, 2025, in the press office of the Chief Rabbi (Hasidic) Berl Lazar's Russia told RIA Novosti that at night in Obninsk, Kaluga region, unknown people tried to set fire to the synagogue. According to reports, at least three molotov cocktails were thrown at the synagogue building, and the entrance to the building was damaged. A police report has been filed, and law enforcement officers are working at the scene, the press service said.
