In next coming days, the planet Earth will be covered by one of the most powerful geomagnetic storms in recent times. The magnetic disturbance is associated with a rare coincidence of two solar processes at once: a solar flare and a plasma ejection, as well as the activity of the coronal hole. According to astronomer Evgeny Burmistrov, on August 5. 2025, a class M4.5 flare was recorded on the Sun, accompanied by a coronal mass ejection. Almost simultaneously, the coronal hole CH69 began to work actively, from which a stream of solar wind emanates at a record speed. This combination of factors will cause a geomagnetic storm, the peak of which is expected on August 8 2025 and 9 August 2025.
Alexander Chizhevsky in the 1920s put forward a theory that solar maxima correlate with:
Wars (Napoleonic, WWI)
Revolutions (1789, 1917)
Migration of peoples
Problems of the Chizhevsky's theory:
Correlation ≠ causation. There sometimes can be calm periods during solar maxima.
The selection of events is subjective (can be "adjusted").
There is no described mechanism for how exactly outbreaks cause riots, but it's well known fact that solar flares affect weather-sensitive people, which can cause headaches and pressure surges and influence your head in a some way
