 No.1554[Last 50 Posts]

In this thread, I might post ever flag that this site has. IDK, I guess I'm bored.

Back in 2013 or 2014 I posted on the old 4chon. Today I found out about this website. This thread and site might end up being stupid: either due to my own posts or something else.

Each post will have something generally or specifically related to the flag. The topics could be about archiving, my personal thoughts, or whatever. For example, this one is:
Character - Anime - Ah! My Goddess - Belldandy

I never watched that anime "Ah! My Goddess", so here's some other anime image. It's a "One Piece" pic. I watched some of the "One Piece" anime but found it hard to keep watching because it's brainrot or something.

 No.1555

This flag:
Character - Anime - Aika - Aika Sumeragi

Also didn't see that anime ("Aika").

>I might post ever flag that this site has.

Early signs of FAIL. Meant to say "post every flag".

>I watched some of the "One Piece" anime

Left off at the episode where I think Monkey D. Luffy's brother makes his first appearance. When they're in the desert area.

 No.1556

Character - Anime - Air - Misuzu Kamio

Didn't see "Air".

Oh, and I'm what might be called a "media fan". I can go on and on about whatever crappy TV shows and movies that I've watched. Of course, some TV and film is better than others.

Noticed a parallel between two "starter animes" that I watched: "Naruto" and "My Hero Academia". In both shows the main antagonist's second-in-command have a similarity. Both of them had the main antagonist revealed to be the architect of their pain. In "Naruto" Obito Uchiha, was manipulated into thinking that that tragic event where his "girlfriend" died happened naturally. In MHA, Tomura Shigaraki was manipulated into thinking that that tragic event happened naturally.

So the character motivation or backstory wasn't as pure or true as those secondary antagonists thought.

Character - Anime - Aria - Alice Carroll

I have an anime-related flash file named "index_of_game.interes.ge_-_swf clip Another Maple Story _Funny_ _Parody_.swf". It was never posted to the 4chan board /f/:
https://archive.4plebs.org/f/search/image/QmosL-7TXu184KfpAqkQDw

but this SWF file was grabbed by swfchan:

Some of the music used in this flash animation:
- "Leva's Polka", Loituma
- "Cooking is so Fun", from Azumanga Daioh

Character - Anime - Aria - Alicia Florence

That's an SWF from 2007. I can see that it's trying to be comedic, but I didn't laugh. I never played "Maple Story".

 No.1561

Character - Anime - Azumanga Daioh - Ayumu "Osaka" Kasuga

I watched both English dubs of the "Azumanga Daioh" episodes. With one of the English dubs, some episodes are lost. I watched that one "Azumanga Daioh" movie where "the little girl's pigtails fall off and she has to go on a great adventure to get them back". Wasn't there some other "Azumanga Daioh" movies or OVAs?

Character - Anime - Azumanga Daioh - Chiyo Mihama

PostPet is referenced in volume 1 of the Azumanga Daioh manga:

Translation Notes 1 - Azumanga Daioh Volume 1 [...] Page 27 \ P-Pet: A reference to the Japanese e-mail service, "PostPet," a comprehensive program that gives its users the ability to raise electronic "pets" who interact and deliver mail. PostPet started in the late 1990s and gained popularity right around the turn of the century, when this part of Azumanga Daioh was originally drawn. The author most likely abbreviated the name out of copyright concerns. The most popular pet and overall mascot of PostPet is a pink teddy bear named "Momo."

I probably have terabytes of anime downloaded. Maybe 2 to 3 or 4 TB. Sometime this month, I went to a Best Buy in the United States. They were all sold out of hard drives, and they don't sell tape drives. I fucking hate AI for making hard disk drives cost so much now. Their easystore external 20-TB HDD cost 880 USD, and with tax that totals to something like 950 USD.

Two or three years ago I could buy the same 20-TB or 22-TB drive for half that price. Back then, 18 to 22 USD per TB was a good deal, now Best Buy sells it at around 44 USD per terabyte. Online shopping shows that I could get internal HDDs at 30 to 35 USD per TB (so 20 TB would cost around 600 dollars).

>[...]One thing I wonder, is how the hell this thing got dubbed in the first place. It's the exact opposite of Japanese animation. It is somehow both episodic and yet maintains a sense of continuity at the same time. Usually in Japanese cartoons; you have a giant overarching plot, usually things like "Catch all the Pokemon", "Defeat Naraku", "Find the Philosophers Stone", or what have you. I guess the biggest 'overarching goal' would have to be "Graduate", which does happen in an acceptably short amount of time. Yet at the same time, to the untrained eye this show would resemble all those crappy school-related shows such as "My Gym Partner's A Monkey", "The Emperors New School", and even certain new episodes of "Ed, Edd, and Eddy". But it's really not. I've sometimes joked that if Cartoon Network were to try and create a Japanified version of "My Gym Partner's A Monkey", (a la "Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z") it would probably end up as "Azumanga Daioh With Monkeys" or something.

The next flag(s) in the list are related to "Naruto". I guess my number 1 favorite Naruto character would be Madara Uchiha. Second favorite Naruto character would be Orochimaru. The anime's treatment of said character trying to obtain immortality and power is cool or interesting, but I have to acknowledge that Orochimaru is a bit of douchebag with his human testing. He killed a bunch of kids and adults while trying to further science. So Orochimaru is immoral or evil, with his selfish goals. Madara had more selfless goals of getting everyone to live in a fantastic fantasy land (dreams).

Character - Anime - PokƩmon - Lana's Mother

Didn't watch any more anime, but I did watched an animated film, titled "The Bob's Burgers Movie".

Most stories are in support of a life affirming ideal. It's interesting that even the categorization of stories are done from a somewhat non-objective standpoint. Well, you can say that it's objective, but the terms have baggage. Stories which greatly show a life denying situation are called "tragedies" or "horror". (Some black comedy or drama stories are basically tragedies; also horror stories have a big overlap with tragedies and denying life.)

Most stories are life affirming because that's what most people like, and it sells. Always after the conflict there's something of a satisfying resolution. It's really just a play on a certain emotional response with catharsis. Tragedy and horror play on emotions too: fear, being disturbed, feeling sickened.

Anyways, I don't know lots about the Pokemon anime. Here's what a chatbot said:

>Antagonists in the PokƩmon anime?

This show was edgier in the earlier seasons. It became more wholesome in the later seasons. It's always been a wholesome family-friendly show. Here's a screenshot of it from season 1 or 2 I think.

>Louise Belcher (a fan favorite character)

Makes me think of pedophilia, history, and pornography. Timeline:
- 1800 to 1900: the virtual easily accessible world of porn is non-existent
- 1900 to 2000: porn becomes much more accessible at the end of this era
- 2000 to 2026: porn is very accessible for everyone

So does porn becoming so accessible make pedos not turn into child molesters? Currently, pedos look at drawn or real CP. That's enough for some of them, but some of them make their sick degenerate fantasies a reality. It's not enough for the latter group. The ones who think that porn is enough: if they didn't have porn, maybe they too would go to prison or jail for what they would do to IRL kids.

Makes me wonder about the future. Science can already create sex robots (now with LLMs), and maybe in the future people can go into a virtual world to play out their sexual fantasies. (Like the movie "The Matrix".) Speculating about the future here:
- 2026 to 3000: sexbots and virtual reality full-body full-senses sexual experiences are classified as porn, now there's only pedos and no child molesters; the world is a better place without such crime
- 3000 to 4000: everything becomes nothingness, the universe ends, I'm glad.

The series "Solar Opposites" is much more politically preachy than "Bob's Burgers".

Which is more politically preachy: Family Goy or Solar Opposites? I thought "Family Goy" was just an insult due to "Family Guy" often times being a lecture from liberal Hollywood, but it's also the title of a "Family Guy" episode:

The name of that track is "Gloom's Approach". It has a duration of 11 minutes and 31 seconds:
https://archive.org/download/the-legend-of-zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom-ost_202412
https://web.archive.org/web/20260823193737/https://downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/the-legend-of-zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom-o.s.t-switch-gamerip-2023

I'm not seeing much info online about this track. Nothing in MusicBrainz. Probably nothing in Discogs. For it to be in either, there has to be an official release of the game's soundtrack, not something like
https://web.archive.org/web/20260830063845/https://music.apple.com/us/album/glooms-approach-ep/1741213618

Looking in VGMdb / Video Game Music database, I see these from searching "Tears of the Kingdom":
https://web.archive.org/web/20260609202235/https://vgmdb.net/album/139331
https://web.archive.org/web/20260812000202/https://vgmdb.net/album/139332

Neither has a track titled "Gloom's Approach". Similar thing I saw:
>title: "Wind Temple: The Legendary Stormwind Ark (Theme)"

Why is there a difference here? Looking at the official soundtrack albums under the Columbia record label, I see 5 tracks:
>Wind Temple (First Phase)
>Wind Temple (Second Phase)
>Wind Temple (Third Phase)
>Wind Temple (Fourth Phase)
>Wind Temple (Fifth Phase)
compared to Wikidata, which labels that as a single thing. There's no 11-minute-something track either.

So "Gloom's Approach" could be what the unofficial rip of the soundtrack named that 11-minute-something section of music (based on where in the game the music plays). In the official soundtrack it might be named something else, or it could be split into multiple tracks.

So the track's official title is "Gloom's Lair" and it has a duration of 2 minutes and 28 seconds. FLAC file of it (from OST disc 8):

So-called "Gloom's Approach" is "Gloom's Lair" combined with official-title track "Forgotten Foundation: Battle" and/or whatever else.

The philosopher Hegel might say something like: "You have all of these facts, so what? Who cares?" My answer: I could use this information later on as addition to a fairly-non-shitty online knowledge base.

It's interesting what a difference it makes if you really focus on the audio.

I was lying down, listening to this audio with my eyes closed for the whole time. I turned the volume to a high setting or to maximum. Just immersed myself in the soundscape. Chills maybe multiple times while listening. Lying there relaxing, among other sounds, I could hear (religious/cultish?) chants which I think aren't any human language: "Dee Sah Euw, Dee Sah Euw, Dee Sah Euw, ..."

Character - Anime - Welcome to the NHK - Tatsuhiro Satou

My idea for fixing the Nitter mess comes down to this:
- Alternative backend, not just an alternative frontend
- Use a Fediverse-like system, maybe with content addressing via IPFS

Elaborating on this idea:

The Nitter instances form a collaborative whole. If one is rate limited, then it can request the resource from another instance. This is an opt-in default setting that can be opted-out of later on. The Shitter text and images is saved as IPFS CIDs so once it's added to an instance it can always be revisited. It will work each time that URL is revisited. Those saved CIDs can be shared a million times a day with any other instance without worrying about being rate limited by Shitter. Actually storing the data instead of acting like a proxy for Shitter = alternative backend.

Every Shitter resource like /user/status/... and /image_link/... can be stored as and IPFS CID, so the text "/user/status/123" = "bafk...". The text data would also include an added field: time captured. In order to reduce the amount of requests to Shitter, to update a post, you will manually have to use a JavaScript-only button. If you click "update", it will update the retweets, likes, comment count numbers. Images won't have an update button. In a regular database, or in IPFS, the multiple captures will be stored at "bafk.../20260831142948" and other of such key+timestamps for the same URL. This could be shared as JSON / API with other instances when requests are made.

Dev fags don't want to use too many resources, but with this system they could choose to not save any images and only save text. Lots of tweets / text = not that much HDD space.

Alternative front-end = all of the data can be taken away at any moment.

Alternative back-end = all past data cannot be taken away, only future information can be taken away at any moment. Plus, if an instance is rate limited, it could say: "check out our cached/saved posts here: [link]".

In this case, the Nitter instances would be by-request Shitter archives, don't have to use the term "alternative back-end". They would be "by-request archives" and not free-standing crawlers that would try to get every random Shitter post all the time.

In the book "My Little Pony: The Journal of the Two Sisters: The Official Chronicles of Princesses Celestia and Luna" it says this:
>It's not every day that you're asked to rule over an entire land. Actually, Luna and I clarified that our role in Equestria wouldn't be as rulers and we will not think of the ponies of Equestria as our subjects. That would be very awkward. We will be Equestria's guardians. That sounds much friendlier. We will serve and protect, watching over Equestria's lands and skies, keeping them peaceful and safe.

This reveals the author's disdain for real-world monarchy. The author is no reactionary or neoreactionary. The author of this book is a woman, and women usually vote for socialism. Dumb whores.

I guess I don't actually hate niggers, that would be falling into a dialectical trap set up by the Jewish media or whatever. I do wish that all white countries would be at least 80 to 90 percent white. A British ethnonationalist once said "We need security, not purity." So yeah, 80% to 90% white after deporting multiple non-white or Muslim communities in the UK is a more realistic goal for "security, not purity." 100% white might be ideal, but like I said, an unrealistic goal as things are now.

I also agree with Jared Taylor in the United States who said that white people (and all other races in the USA) should have freedom of associating, should be able to form interest groups, should be able to maintain or work in the interest of their own communities, and so on.

In the Naruto story, characters are in control of what's basically magic; though I don't think it ever mentions "magic". The characters have powers from control and mastery of their chakra plus nature energy and some other internal-to-the-human-body energy. It's an interesting key element of the story. A real world equivalent would be money, political power, status / reputation, and sexual appeal. Important things in Naruto which also exist in the real world: fitness, bodybuilding, and martial arts training. I think I had more to say about this, but I forgot.

- The Uzuhiko ability
- That one tree guy had great respect for books and a bookstore
- Something about seeing the future or skipping steps in training, I somewhat forgot

Description of Uzuhiko (a Rasengan variant):
>Rasengan: "Uzuhiko" is a unique Rasengan variant developed by Boruto Uzumaki that harnesses the user's own chakra along with what Boruto calls planetary chakra—energy generated by the centrifugal force that works alongside the planet's rotation and orbit—to infuse the attack with theoretically

Idea for another chakra ability: something harnessing the force of gravity. However, gravity is a pretty weak force. Humans can literally jump into the air, breaking the pull of gravity from the entire Earth.

Unicorns and maybe also pegasi exist in the "Harry Potter" story. I remember in the past asking for chatgpt via duck.ai to create stories with Harry Potter + Necronomicon, and in another case Naruto or Orochimaru + Necronomicon. The stories were almost entirely crappy ones. "We must destroy the book", "some knowledge must not be know", and other boring plot points. Maybe the newer models are better now, months later. Where is this book? Wikipedia:
>the Necronomicon existed as an astral book as part of the Akashic records and could be accessed through ritual magic or in dreams.
<s>Sounds like</s> astral projection type stuff. Lovecraft also said something like this: centuries ago an Arab was reading the Necronomicon (a book partly made of human flesh as "leather") and got devoured by invisible demons in a crowded area in broad daylight. He died in Saudi Arabia.

"Family Guy" mentions the TV series adaptation of the video game series "The Last of Us". I watched seasons 1 and 2 of "The Last of Us" (season 3: 2027). Compared to the video game, the show is blackwashed and extra homosexual. "The Last of Us" was created / written by Jews, so this isn't so surprising. Some thoughts on it:
- season 1, episode 1: asking myself the question "Does any of this matter? Why should I care?" resulted in my answer of "This doesn't matter at all, and I don't care at all"
- season 1, the rest of the episodes: my answer changed to "This story is meaningful, sorta interesting."
- season 2: the last one or two episodes of season 1 revealed the, let's say, main character Joel to be a bad guy. Not a sympathetic anti-hero but someone most people really dislike
- season 2, later on: as related to the previous bullet point, Joel is briefly tortured then killed; that's an interesting thing that I feel doesn't happen much in TV shows
- season 2, later on: after the unusual case of a main character dying, the story now focuses on the other main character: a girl who's also not a sympathetic anti-hero, someone most really dislike
- season 2, last couple episodes: after the main character girl gives up on her seriously pointless revenge quest, Abby says "I gave you a chance to live, and you wasted it!"

Difficulties adding this to archive.today:
- It can't directly save images with a certain height (larger than about 1024 pixels high).
- Asking it to save the web.archive.org copy at https://web.archive.org/web/20260818011911/https://4chon.me/scrap/src/1786778976120-1.jpg fails because it shows the top left corner of the image which is pure white. archive.is will not save captures where every pixel is white.

Solution:
Use an HTML which scales down the image to 100% width and 100 height of the browser's viewport. The URL to the 4chon image is passed to the page via the base64-encoded part after "?" here:

So I played one of those games like a decade ago. Never knew what the story was about. LLM answer below.

Me:
>what's the devil may cry story even about?
Duck.ai:
>Devil May Cry is mainly about family, demons, and the conflict between human compassion and demonic power.
>Long ago, the demon knight Sparda rebelled against the demon emperor Mundus and protected humanity. He married a human woman, Eva, and they had twin sons:
>- Dante, who embraces his human side and becomes a wisecracking demon hunter
>- Vergil, who pursues demonic power because he believes strength is the only way to avoid helplessness
>After Eva is killed during a demonic attack, the twins grow apart. Dante fights demons while protecting humans, whereas Vergil repeatedly tries to gain more power—even when it puts the human world at risk. Their rivalry is the central storyline of the series.

I realize that it's very important to 4chaniggers to know whether or not a thread is entirely or mainly (~95%) just one guy posting and talking to himself. A 4chanigger sees such occurrences as a shitty thread. This may reveal a general trend in human psychology and in how imageboard threads are thought of by people. If I reach the bump limit before posting every flag ITT, I may create another thread. In the new thread I might say something like "As was the case in the previous thread, this thread will probably be 99% posts from me, and me talking to myself." I will mention this as it's apparently important to users.

Not like I can pretend that these posts are from different anons, even though they're labeled as "Anonymous". Understand styl-o-metry:
>[Me:] thing where text is analyzed and determined to belong to a specific author
>[Duck.ai:] That is called stylometry—the statistical analysis of writing style to identify or verify an author.
>The task itself is often called authorship attribution or authorship analysis. It can examine features such as:

>- Function-word usage

- In one of the season 6 or 7 episodes: Stan is only married to Francine because she's beautiful and sexy. Francine is only married to Stan because she wants to be taken care of and not have to do wage employment (instead be a housewife). That episode concludes that they're only together for "vain" reasons.
- I laughed out loud multiple times across the various episodes.
- In a season 7 or season 8 episode: gorillas are seen using sign language to communicate with each other. That made me curious; more on that below.

See "Why Koko (Probably) Couldn't Talk (Sorry) | The Deep Dive":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7wFotDKEF4

Apes are fuckin dumb. They never actually knew any language beyond the level of a dog or parrot appearing to know a language. It was all mimicry and stupid associations. (The woman who was like a mother to Koko the gorilla is like the type of annoying pet owner woman that I dislike.)

>Family Guy
It's pretty pointless to explain the plot holes in "Family Guy", because it's like a silly joke show. Anyways, here's one: in a season 5 episode, Peter wants to have sex with Barbara "Babs" Pewterschmidt. About 15 seasons later, Peter is disgusted by accidentally performing cunnilingus on Babs.

Pointing out plot holes is more meaningful on more serious shows and movies. It varies. Like pointing out plot holes in Spider-Man or Batman movies: maybe take a moment to realize how ridiculous the premise of these shows are. Bit by a radioactive spider then turned into a superhero or gain super powers. And in Batman the guy dresses up like a bat.

>Apes

There's multiple definitions of "great ape". Once includes humans (Homo) and the other doesn't:
>2. Any member of the taxonomic family Hominidae, including gorilla, orangutan, chimpanzee, excluding Homo.
>3. Any member of the taxonomic family Hominidae, including Homo, and also many similar extinct species. --!wt

>In USA, monthly electricity cost is between 30 and 130 USD. As we said, mining XMR isn't going to do a whole lot unless you can mine more than 30 USD worth of it per month.
So my XMR mining isn't making any profit (it's making monthly loses if capital is my only system of value here). Imagine between 1,000 and 20,000 USD in each of two bank accounts (in the same bank or different banks):
- the one with lower returns makes like 0.6 USD per month = savings account
- the one with higher returns makes around 7 USD per month = money market account (MMA)

Even the one making 0.6 dollars per month is more of a profit than said crypto mining. The concern is that it's inflationary fiat national currency. Inflation doesn't benefit most people, but it does benefit governments. The US government is more able to pay off its debt to other countries if the US dollar inflates. 1 trillion dollars in debt 20 years ago, by today's value of the USD = 1.66 trillion. Conversely, $1 trillion today is worth only about $603 billion in 2006 dollars. See https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

Duck.ai:
>inflation reduces the real value of fixed-rate, dollar-denominated government debt. If the U.S. borrowed $1 trillion at a fixed nominal interest rate, it can repay that principal with dollars that buy less than they did when borrowed.

It's a 1.5-GB folder in an IPFS node in a RAM disk. Cool thing I can do with that: recursively provide 1.5 gigabytes to the DHT in 1 second! Proof:

I can actually test that. I have the same CID in a HDD connected over USB 3. The I/O of it is already sorta saturated; here's the results:
>$ utc; ipfs routing provide -r bafybeifgdmdwkfs2jzlbkp3g5e7r2yhgnzednmhb6mdlva7mvvx2ufwnmq; utc

Many crappy games were released for the Atari, NES, and SNES, but like none of that set includes any Super Mario games. Some retro games were way too difficult, annoying, infuriating, and not fun. Even "Super Mario Bros." borders on not being fun. Just watch videos by Angry Video Game Nerd, and you'll know what I mean. All of those retro games released in the 1970s to 1990s should be preserved forever, and we can still acknowledge that some of them sucked ass to play.

>had two dreams about vagina today: one of them was related to the video game "Fallout: New Vegas" and the [chronologically] next one wasn't.
1. Setting: post-apocalyptic Mojave Desert, daytime. Details:

Through my scope I saw one or two guys trap a horse head-down in a hole. I went over and saw the mare was sorta kicking. Her butt was above-ground and I could see her pussy. A guy said that he was going to cut out her vagina and hold it like it was a sex toy. They were going to cut it out while she was still alive and began doing that. He said that he planned to sell the disembodied horse pussy to the leader of a nearby Caesar's Legion camp. (So sell it to the Kaiser or a legate.)

Being awake now and thinking about this: it doesn't make sense. The flesh would decay and die. If taxidermy methods were applies, then the horse vagina would be too stiff and unfuckable. Wasteland folk in the Mojave probably already bang mares on the reg. Such violence against a live horse is bad and nonsensical. Other less important part of that dream: Meanwhile, back at camp (not a Caesar's Legion camp), someone had a silicon sex toy which was a fuck tube / "fleshlight". It was modular in regards to the silicon cutout of the top of a girl's thighs and crotch area. So it could be the centrepiece of that or completely detached, acting as a pocketpussy.

2. Setting: airfield with hangers, daytime. Details:

A flea market or something was happening on the pavement of the airfield and in its hangers. Someone was selling vagina sex toys. They all cost between 180 and 220 USD. I thought they were too expensive.

unless you take a long break it's highly unlikely this thread will get bumped off first page before you reach 523 flags (as per https://4chon.me/flags.php )
if however it looks like this will get bumped off 1st page, i either can temporarily raise the bump limit for /scrap/ to 550 or add some anti-anchor mod feature (up to 600 reply hard limit) for individual threads for /scrap/ only

Super Mario Bros., no skipping levels. Attempt 8: Game Over at 5-4. Attempt 9: Game Over at 8-3.

I looked up the solution for 7-4 because that level is stupid. I'm not memorizing the pattern, and I'm not risking failing the level from running out of time.

I was concerned about the bump limit in relation to the size of this webpage. I wasn't sure if anyone here is concerned about this. The size of this thread is now 604 KB.

However, this is a minor concern, so if you don't care then I also don't. If a thread here gets enough replies then it eventually cannot hold anymore replies. The limit here is 600 replies max per thread (or some other nearby number).

As of now, this thread compresses down to 92 KB:

So far, the worst season 17 episode of "Family Guy" is episode 16 "You Can't Handle the Booth!". Out of the 10 most recent seasons, S17 E16 is the worst. "Family Guy" characters repeatedly say something like "Why does 'Bob's Burgers' have a pointless Jewish media trophy [an Emmy], and 'Family Guy' doesn't?" Because of turds like this episode. That's one big reason.

Most people don't want to get too involved in forth-wall-breaking meta stories like this episode. This is some meta-narrative postmodernist bullshit. Since early "Family Guy" episodes it was made clear that the show is this:
- "Family Guy" cartoon characters are actors.
- "Family Guy" characters act in the show "Family Guy".

Now with S17E16:
- "Family Guy" voice actors (real people) tell the fictional characters that they're not real.
- "Family Guy" cartoon characters are actors.
- "Family Guy" characters act in the show "Family Guy".

S17E16 is a DVD commentary episode: it's inverted because the DVD extras have the episode with no commentary. Season 17 is the last "Family Guy" episode with an optical disc release (a DVD); the newest season in season 24. In it, they called DVDs an "out-moded format". Lame.

S17E16 was mostly a waste of time. The writers were really sniffing their own farts with this one. Possible positives of this episode: somewhat unique; Seth MacFarlane as Seth MacFarlane saying "You should be glad you're fictional: you can drink as much alcohol as you want with no consequences. You can travel through time. Only Meg's real life counterpart has a better life than the fictional character counterpart."

Now that society has so much computer-based information and technology everywhere, maybe central planning is possible. It failed in the old Soviet Union because the government planning what every grocery store should stock and so on was too difficult and better left up to each individual private company. Now with all the information today, maybe central planning would work.

"Planned economy" article in Wikipedia:
>A planned economy is a type of economic system where investment, production and the allocation of capital goods takes place according to economy-wide economic plans and production plans. A planned economy may use centralized, decentralized, participatory or Soviet-type forms of economic planning.[1][2] The level of centralization or decentralization in decision-making and participation depends on the specific type of planning mechanism employed.[3]

Ideology - Hinduism

In the book "Studies in Pessimism" (1913):
>Brahma is said to have produced the world by a kind of fall or mistake; and in order to atone for his folly he is bound to remain in it himself until he works out his redemption. As an account of the origin of things, that is admirable! According to the doctrines of Buddhism, the world came into being as the result of some inexplicable disturbance in the heavenly calm of Nirvana, that blessed state obtained by expiation, which had endured so long a time—the change taking place by a kind of fatality. This explanation must be understood as having at bottom some moral bearing; although it is illustrated by an exactly parallel theory in the domain of physical science, which places the origin of the sun in a primitive streak of mist, formed one knows not how. Subsequently, by a series of moral errors, the world became gradually worse and worse—true of the physical orders as well—until it assumed the dismal aspect it wears to-day. Excellent! The Greeks looked upon the world and the gods as the work of an inscrutable necessity. A passable explanation: we may be content with it until we can get a better. Again, Ormuzd and Ahriman are rival powers, continually at war. That is not bad. But that a God like Jehovah should have created this world of misery and woe, out of pure caprice, and because he enjoyed doing it, and should then have clapped his hands in praise of his own work, and declared everything to be very good—that will not do at all! In its explanation of the origin of the world, Judaism is inferior to any other form of religious doctrine professed by a civilized nation; and it is quite in keeping with this that it is the only one which presents no trace whatever of any belief in the immortality of the soul.[4]
>[...]
>Between the ethics of the Greeks and the ethics of the Hindoos, there is a glaring contrast. In the one case (with the exception, it must be confessed, of Plato), the object of ethics is to enable a man to lead a happy life; in the other, it is to free and redeem him from life altogether—as is directly stated in the very first words of the Sankhya Karika.

Origianlly written by Arthur Schopenhauer, this is a translated text from 1913. Schopenhauer was alive from 1788 to 1860.

So it looks like sometime between 1788 and 1860, scientists didn't know how the Sun (a star) came into existence. Science knows how stars form now: massive amounts of gas and other matter condense by gravity until they start burning with nuclear fusion.

Some of what it says:
>Fascism is a form of government, in which the country is considered more important than any one person, group, liberty, or provision.
>Accountry under this kind of government is usually run by a person called a leader, who has the right of total control over the government and people.!"]
>Fascist leadership might also be similar to an oligarchy, such as in Italy where the fascist party was ruled by its "grand council" from 1922 until the end of World War Two.|2!
>Fascism appeared in Europe before World War || because many people thought that democracy was weak and full of moral perversions, that capitalism was too materialistic and unfair to the people, while communism, although unifying and fair, did not care about the needs of the nation and hampered business initiative.
>Fascism was supposed to be the answer for that need, with national unity and solidarity instead of the divisions of class struggle and party politics. Liberals and believers in democracy generally considers fascism and communism as two facets of totalitarianism, and that they are unified by the urge to control everything and allow no freedom. But, believers in Marxism-Leninism think that capitalism either creates or uses fascism as a tool to destroy the workers' movements and secure rule by the upper classes if it is challenged. It does so by appealing to the people and to their most primitive needs, while actually pursuing the interests of the already rich.

>Super Mario Bros. [32 levels total]
>Must be Fire Mario throughout all of 8-3 and 8-4.
(The game is cruel that way. If you beat all 30 levels leading up to that and you're not Fire Mario at the start and near-to-the-end of 8-4: unless you're very lucky, you're fucked and will have to spend all of your lives repeating 8-4 or will have to start over from 1-1. 8-3 has like two powerups. I don't think 8-4 has any power-ups.)

Do this:
>$ ipfs add --chunker=size-1048576 --raw-leaves ~/Downloads/QmPgkkxig6vZBkpEq9L2XFTbSYF2vyykqcHNdMvxmDqD4H.webm
or:

I was braindead for a second there. It's easy to re-create it.

A way to beat "Super Mario Bros." with no skipping and no cheating: create a save state at 7-1 or 8-1. Play from that state with no cheating all the way to beating the game. This is practice for world 7 and 8, and you can master those worlds. Then, in the real run, start from 1-1 and do not use save states at all. Once you get to world 7 and 8 you might be able to beat them since you got all of that practice.

Not using save states at all (not using them for said practice) = you will waste time repeatedly playing all of world 1 to 6 or 7, only to die on world 8.

>...topics could be about archiving...
Archiving work / topics that I have some interest in:
- "Micro-archiving" as related to a blockchain (multiple posts are about that ITT)
- Archiving the hundreds or thousands of tabs that I have open in my devices (sometimes hard to do as some of the sites are WBM-excluded)
- Converting clearweb torrents to I2P torrents: better privacy, doesn't show your real IP address! I basically haven't done this before.
- etc.

The Xephyr program is great. I'm using this software in a Linux computer. Info on it from a man page:
>NAME
> Xephyr - X server outputting to a window on a pre-existing X display
>[...]
>DESCRIPTION
> Xephyr is a kdrive server that outputs to a window on a pre-existing "host" X display. Think Xnest but with support for modern extensions like composite, damage and randr.
> Unlike Xnest which is an X proxy, i.e. limited to the capabilities of the host X server, Xephyr is a real X server which uses the host X server window as "framebuffer" via fast SHM XImages.
> It also has support for "visually" debugging what the server is painting.

Regarding this part of that post
>$ env -u I3SOCK DISPLAY=:1 i3-msg 'floating enable'
This does what mod+w does:
>$ env -u I3SOCK DISPLAY=:1 i3-msg 'layout tabbed'

>The Xephyr program is great!
I have an uptime of 36 days and have in those days done two full system upgrades, I think that's why the GUI basically broke on DISPLAY=:0. Probably can fix it by restarting the computer. Or, as a "quick fix", using Xephyr + i3wm + konsole + brave browser + other programs in DISPLAY=:1!

>Family Guy
This show makes a lot of jokes about specific media and specific celebrities. That's fine, part of what makes it unique. Not all viewers know of the media its parodying or commenting on, even fewer viewers know about whatever celebrity drama or celebrity bullshit it jokes about. The specificity of its jokes makes it not have mass appeal and may make it or its stories less "universal" or "timeless".

>Compare that to the original video:

I watch all episodes of "The Sopranos" about 4 years ago.

Part of the idea here is getting you into the headspace of Tony Soprano: a mob boss who went to therapy because he was having panic attacks. Maybe the suspicious guy who went into the restroom came out of it then murdered Tony. That's part of the paranoia of being a criminal: worrying about fatal or bad consequences from your actions. Tony may be worrying about the enemies he made in his blood-stained criminal career. "Is that guy an enemy or paid assassin?" he may have thought.

>>1922
Per the above text in this post, in this parody, Caillou may be worried that Arthur Read is going to kill him.
