Most people aren't interested in imageboard culture anymore and most people who are are not interested in hosting imageboards because of how much bullshit comes with that territory.
Other boards like /jp/ are so unique and tight knit that I feel the users would simply make a discord group or something. There aren't many left.
I use /v/, /b/, and /a/ on 4chan. They're not as good as they used to be, but they're still fun imo. /b/ is real slow now. /v/ is full of shills. But despite that, I enjoy going there, and so for me it's worthwhile. Moot is a lying fag but moot has been gone for a very, very long time. The dude is married and has a daughter in Japan. He probably doesn't even think about 4chan anymore. What's left there is merely a shadow of itself but even that shadow is better than anything else you'd find on the web.
