When I was playing WoW over a decade ago there was a multi boxer who queued into AV(PVP map for those unfamiliar). He was playing 5 characters at once, the same Tauren Shaman with the same equipment and they were all clipping inside each other, so it was like they were merged into one being. Flawed development is when the game is horribly optimized, sometimes due to just using the wrong engine for the purpose.
Oblivion Remastered for example runs at a choppy 19 FPS on an RTX 3050 6GB at low settings, DLSS Ultra Performance 1080p (youtu.be/watch?v=ZcGWT74mzv0).
Unfortunately Bethesda has a massive amount of fanboys who bought the game anyway, rewarding Bethesda's decision not to optimize the game.
Games like E33 and Pragmata on the other hand run comfortably well on an RTX 3050 6GB. Especially Pragmata, even a GTX 1060 6GB can run it at 60 FPS 1080p lowish settings with FSR.

The gayest videogame community on planet earth:

It's a VERY flawed game and you can't notice how until you've put enough hours in.
There are 2 major flaws with Melee:
1) It is counter productive to its own existence (I'll explain)
2) It's way too tier list oriented.
As for being "counter productive to its own existence", there is an objectively best way to play. And that's to play boring. Never approach. If you approach, you lose. But if you don't approach, you get heckled by the real-life crowd of people.
Melee is a catch 22 in which if you play to win, you get the ire of the community. What a stupid system!
It's also way too heavy on the tier list stuff. Sure, it's technically possible to win with a mid-tier, but you will NEVER do it, ever. And matchups are a real thing. You CANNOT become a champion with a solo main. You have to dual main because of bad matchups. This really frustrated me because I wanted badly to solo main, but you cannot do that in melee and succeed.

Melee community went full libtard
>people getting instabanned on twitch for "misgendering" recently trooned-out melee players
>Hungrybox banning "transphobes" from his online tournaments
>mang0 has recently started pandering to faggots
>"transphobes" getting banned from Melee discord/reddit etc.
>inb4 melee had it coming
There's nothing inherant to this nintendo party game that demands the player base be this cringe. Like what is going on? I like the game but damn I'm not sure if I want to go to tournaments any more.

>Marth and Falco make melee LITERALLY unplayable.

This is true but not the whole story. I've been playing for a long time and I've figured out a deadly flaw in Melee's gameplay.
It's too character dependent. There are only 3 characters that will let you play the game for a living. Jigglypuff/Marth/Fox. (it's debatable whether Jiggs should even be in there) all the other characters are simply not good enough to get a sponsorship and go full time. Literally 2 characters. If that doesn't turn you off to the game, then I don't know what will
>but Amsa!
freak of nature. You (yes you) will never get a sponsorship with Yoshi. EVER!
>but what about [insert character here that has one player with a sponsorship]
Allow me to continue the redpill:
The tier list is based solely on whether your character can hit the opponent up (like, the direction, up). Yes, it's that simple. Marth/Fox/Jigglypuff can hit the opponent straight up for endless combos.
What's you're favorite character? Is it Mario? He can't hit straight up, so down he goes on the tier list. By the way Yoshi can hit character's upwards. Just food for thought.

>There's nothing inherant to this nintendo party game that demands the player base be this cringe.
Pretty sure that's the player base you should expect when it's autists treating a party game like a serious fighting game. I've always had a visceral disgust for Melee players. I don't usually get upset about someone's retarded hobbies, but there's just something indescribable about them that gets my ire. They're the only people I encourage Nintendo to crack down on.

Happy the series is doing well, though. The gameplay formula is still enjoyable. I dare say the campaign doesn't even attempt to take itself seriously and it makes me appreciate "Songs of Conquest", a game inspired by HoMM released a couple years ago, a bit more. SoC's campaign story isn't necessarily great by any means either but is more in line with what I'd expect from a HoMM title which always had setting that was a little out there (even with the earlier titles they basically just crammed as many different public domain mythological creatures into a game as they could with little regard to how well they complemented the others).

Why won't they just release an SE version of the game without the UE5 clusterfuck on top of it? Why should it take a recompilation effort or writing an engine from scratch just to update a classic game for modern systems, where you would receive no thanks for your free labor except for a C&D letter, when they clearly still have the source code and could release it so easily?

This was the genuinely the hardest mod I've ever done.
It took me 3 hrs to clear the dust on the INSIDE of the LCD.
If anyone tells you the Switch is a well designed console, they've never had to fix one or take one apart.
They're completely garbagely planned obsolencedly designed. I'll give you some examples:
>The left joycon rail MUST snake round a screw hole, causing fraying and deterioration over time; this for a console that's flagship was the joycons (not that my man hands use those, but they still shouldn't be breaking.
>When I was gently removing the right rail with loop tweezers, the seating clip just came off. It still works, but it was clearly not adhered to the motherboard well.
>The digitiser and game card share PCB space; if your game card (the main way this console actually PLAYED games before all was digital) is unseated from the main motherboard which is very easy to do, your touchscreen won't work and game cards won't read. The seating is clipped into the rest of the board rather than by a ribbon cable hinge despite the ribbon cable again having a crimp, which could fray over time.

I haven't seen a teardown video of the Bing Bing Wahoo Machine 2, but I bet it's similarly cheaply made.

I had a nice tendon ds, some sega handheld thing with this absolutely fun crush/physics mining sort of game. Plus all the clothes and accessories like bracelets with metal spikes, a choker (heh, you mad?), shit ton of band shirts, and other jewellery.

Only partly on topic but I organised a bunch of stuff, lots of it was tech, by putting it into reusable shopping bags. It's not a perfect solution because some stuff is e.g. not put into its packaging box properly, like manuals and warranties, but it still worked really well. My guess is that over 90% of all indie games won't earn more than $5k total. There are tens of thousands of games released on Steam every year and that number has been climbing rapidly each year. Not every game is going to make it like Balatro, Vampire Survivors, Pizza Tower, etc. This guy makes $500/mo on Patreon plus $150/mo on YouTube. That's still a fraction what you'd make working at McDonalds part-time, but more than if you spent that time making an entire indie game. Meanwhile they could've bought an XBox Ally X for the same price (and installed Bazzite OS) which has a significantly more powerful APU than the Deck.

A few outliers here and there, as aggravating as they may be to those of us who know we'll work our entire lives to do by hand what a machine can do in seconds, can't remotely make up for the billions these companies are losing. There will be a huge market retrace on this stuff over the next two or three years. Beyond all that deceit, beyond the almost comically super villainous effect on the environment, what it will soon evolve to be is a means to trap those under its spell into a permanent, endless cycle of seductive, masturbatory self-curated fraudulent content in which hundreds of hours worth of consumption can be manifested with minutes' worth of input.

It has irrevocably poisoned illustration, animation, photography, film, music, creative writing, graphic design, non-fiction writing-not a single aspect of the "digital life" has gone untainted by its employ or reasonable suspicion thereof and this ingress has a residual effect on the real world in which people are discincentivized to pursue healthy self-actualization in favor of the equivalent of entering a query into "Google Images" and pressing "enter" over and over again until a self-satisfactory result is produced.

You're speaking in materialistic terms and even then you're off base; you're comparing inventions that have made things objectively more efficient and less expensive to AI which has done the literal opposite. LOL

Over 99% of artists, musicians and writers will never make their primary wage plying their trade in art. The amount of artists AI affects in this manner per capita is very little so speaking in terms of material wealth or career isn't entirely appropriate. Sure, it's noteworthy but it's still largely beside the point.

Human made art is about effort, self-actualization and the pursuit of connection with others. AI's purpose alternatively is atomization, creating a world where so much is churned out in such numbers and with such ease that there is no time or interest for anything other than what we ourselves are made "capable" of through our subscription to the machine (and the brown drinking water, inorganic market fluctuations, surprise utility bill increases and new taxes that comes with it).

>AI's purpose alternatively is atomization, creating a world where so much is churned out in such numbers and with such ease that there is no time or interest for anything
That's literally what all technology does. Thanks to the gasoline engine we are atomized into cars, and plastic consumables can be shipped across the ocean and then tossed into the ocean when discarded. All technology enslaves. All "efficiency" (that you claim to value) further atomizes. A large family once was needed to farm. Now the efficiency granted by technology has made it where one man can grow the food for a million people. "Efficient" GMO food that grows much faster than traditional crops

>you're comparing inventions that have made things objectively more efficient and less expensive to AI which has done the literal opposite

Efficient = less humans needed to get the job done = atomization

>Human crafted art is not threatened by the existence of AI content provided it is of sufficient quality.
Simply not true in a lot of cases. The only scenario where I personally can see hiring an artist at this point is if you need a lot of art that needs to be sequential and consistent, like a 2D fighter or something. It's not that I would like to stiff artists or anything, but "quality" has largely become a cope at this point and it would take something niche to justify hiring an artist or in many cases even buying assets now. What you see people generating from mainstream LLMs like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok are actually substandard results. Models that have a specialized purpose are much better at their job.

>>112144

Speaking as someone who used to draw a lot and is cognizant of the true costs of "AI", I largely agree with your sentiment, but firstly if we're honest here most art is commercial slop and most people who never tried to take art seriously aren't going to have the same appreciation for the craft that you do. It's similar to someone who wants to write their own game engine instead of using unreal or unity. While it is an impressive feat, no one outside of the craft is going to give a fuck if the result looks worse than ready-made assets in unity. It's like how imageboard admins always think their new software is going to be a real game-changer and drive traffic toward their site for some reason.

And while AI is very inefficient on a macro level, It is my belief that for the time being we are in the AI "golden age", where it isn't totally monopolized and useless as I expect it to one day become, and can be used productively for personal or small indie projects. Back in the day if you were making something as simple as an Oblivion mod and you wanted voice actors you would in all likelihood need to do it yourself or you would use some shitty text to speech program, and then even if you were lucky enough to find a group of amateur volunteers, you'd need to edit the various audio files of different quality yourself and hope they'd do more line reads if you decided to change anything. Do you need custom icons or textures? Well then you're going to need to be able to draw or find an artist. Want new music? Well better know how to make music or find someone to do it for you. Sure there are a lot of free assets out there already, but AI fills all the holes so you don't need to be a multi-talented savant or have a small team just to produce something that feels complete. Also the fact is the quality you can get from AI is usually better than what you can reasonably expect to get on a budget. Lastly if you need answers for just about anything, Claude AI has given me the best results I've seen for years. It is leagues better than other mainstream ones when it comes to finding information, and it's very suspect that it's the only American-based LLM the government is taking issue with.

Stop Killing Games in the EU failed and got no concessions and I said from the beginning they should've at least pushed for something like stricter upfront product labeling at purchase stating that it's online-only and can shut down at any point kind of like with tobacco product warnings (so that if you're still stupid enough to buy something like The Crew, it's your own fault for wasting money on an online-only product) but they didn't bother with that, instead they only asked for the maximalist demand of forcing companies to have an offline patch or equivalent. I predicted this would happen but y'all got butthurt (>>103504 >>103505 >>103506).

What does this custom PC build with three variants have over the Steam Machine?

RTX 5060 Ti GPU which is 5 times faster than Steam Machine's semi-custom AMD GPU (see chart).
32 GB of RAM instead of 16 GB of RAM.
More USB 3.0 ports in the back.
Guaranteed Windows support if you need it.
Future upgradeability.

Knowing Steam fanboys though, it'll probably still profit enough for Gabe to purchase yet another superyacht.

My knowledge of tech specs is about a decade out of date, as I remember when 32gb RAM was "bragging rights" not "this is what I need to run Chrome or Firefox faster than I can click or tap". But I will say a custom-build is almost always superior to a pre-made, not just in saving money (you aren't paying for their labor in putting it together, assuming you're building it yourself) but in having the specs fit your planned use cases so you don't overpay for (i.e.) a top-tier graphics card when what you plan to do would be better served by a bigger better processor.

Feeling the poe itch. Funny, I looked it up to check out the new/current league or w/e as I haven't played in about a year or more and I forgot there is now two Poe's. When I was playing the 2nd I remember feeling like going back to the first would feel like a huge downgrade, but I can't remember the specifics as to why. I'm sure it was the revamped gem system which seemed to offer more freedom/customisability, but I think there were qol ui upgrades/changes. Anyway otherwise I think the poe gameplay loop is very satisfying.

I was playing enshrouded but getting kinda bored of the third person survival collectathon. Wasn't really rewarding enough, I know I could adjust the settings to make collecting easier but still, the game type feels kinda flat and stale to me at the moment.

Been playing the Halo Combat Evolved/Master Chief Collection (MCC) on my Steam Deck. I never beat the original Halo trilogy because I didn't have an Xbox back in the day so despite its reputation I never ended up going through the whole thing so I'm trying to give it a go now. I really like that you can revert back to the original game's graphics so easily; it looks a bit primitive but I've found I sometimes prefer the visual clarity and the lighting choices of the original game to the 2014 remaster. As many people have criticized the new look of the Halo itself I will say that yes it loses something with the "RGB" trim in the MCC Remaster and naturally the newer as of yet unreleased cross console Remaster version doubles down and makes it look even worse.

If you plan to hunt down a flying reptilian jackdaw from Ice and Fire: Dragons before you're kitted out enough to go toe-to-toe with a warden, DO NOT lazily drop a bed out in the open while planning to plink it with basic arrows, as even 500 blocks away is not far enough away for it to uno reverso hunt you down and camp your ass until one of its several dozen meteoric snotballs bombs your bed and you're sent several thousand blocks back to world spawn. That is, unless you remember modded Minecraft is still Minecraft and thus pretty much everyone is hard-countered by the power of water bukket.

What happens when you throw in several Minecraft mods full of overpowered mobs like Ice & Fire: Dragons and Born In Chaos, then decide to wander the world in your unenchanted diamond duds thinking "oh, it's diamond, I'll be fine"? You're decidedly NOT fine if some of these mobs across different mods work astoundingly well together. For example: a few sirens (evil mermaids whose song makes you lose control of your movement and you're dragged towards them until you're close enough to get ganked) pulled me off my amphithere (flying mount, looks like an Aztec inspired snake-bird) and the moment I dropped into the water a nightmare stalker shredded me while unable to get away from the siren's song. Nightmare stalkers live up to their name in several ways. One thing they have is a 2sp00ky variant of frost walker so no, you can't just leap into a river or throw down a water bucket for easy cheesing, and if you're underwater and don't have the usual enchantments aquatic you're just going to drown because it will NOT let you reach the surface. It auto-blinds you the moment it gets in your face and you stay blind until you kill it or dig straight down and tunnel rat, because you are NOT going to run from something just as fast as you if you could sprint (the blind effect from vanilla also disables sprinting as well as critical hits, if you didn't know) and yes, I've tried going full coward but they're relentless and WILL leap down caves and cliffs to get you. And this thing is invisible except for a pair of white eyes (IYKYK) and its every footfall is an intimidating stomp, so if you don't see tiny glowing eyes in the dark you have maybe 1.5 seconds from hearing that first distant heavy thump to going blind and getting ripped apart by a monster way more scary than any of that cave dweller slop. I hate nightmare stalkers BECAUSE they're such a well-designed and deadly horror mod, and I've probably died to them almost as much as I've died to a dragon suddenly leaping out from behind a bush and turning me into KFC. I need to start min-maxing enchantments before I go do ANYTHING, even build a starter home with all these bad boys roaming my world!

Even niggers understand what you cumskins can't.

> I want to talk about something that I think is one of the most important dynamics in entertainment right now, and almost nobody frames it correctly. This isn't a rant. It's a structural observation about how two groups of people behave differently and what it means for the market.

> Non-leftists will support projects made by leftists if they enjoy the work. This happens constantly and nobody bats an eye at it. Conservative, libertarian, apolitical — whatever label you want to use — these consumers watch movies from directors who openly campaign for causes they disagree with. They play games from studios whose leadership posts things they find ridiculous. They read books by authors whose personal politics are the opposite of their own. If it's fun, if it's well made, if it entertains them, they buy it. The creator's politics are secondary if they're a consideration at all.

> That same courtesy does not flow in the other direction. Not at any meaningful scale. The moment a creator is identified as anything other than left-leaning, a segment of the market activates to delegitimize their work. It doesn't matter if the product is completely apolitical. It doesn't matter if the work contains zero political messaging. The mere association is enough. If the wrong people like it, if the wrong audience supports it, if the creator is suspected of holding unapproved views, the work gets reclassified as right-wing, problematic, something that supporting says something about you.

> And it goes beyond boycotting. Boycotting is a consumer choice and everybody has that right. This is active campaigns to deplatform. Pressuring retailers and distributors. Lobbying other creators to distance themselves. Building a social cost around engaging with the work so that even people who might enjoy it think twice because they don't want the headache.

> This asymmetry is how they win — and I don't mean that with admiration. I mean it as a structural observation. If one side consumes good work regardless of who made it, and the other side actively sabotages work based on who made it, the side doing the sabotaging has outsized influence on what gets made, what gets platformed, and what gets supported. Creators and companies start factoring that in. They stop asking "is this good" and start asking "will this attract the wrong attention." That calculation, over time, shapes what gets greenlit, who gets hired, and what stories get told.

> One side is playing as a customer. The other side is playing to get over. And that gives them more structural power even with fewer numbers because they're willing to use tactics the other side won't. The best thing any creator can do is what we've done at the Rippaverse — build directly to your audience, don't depend on them for validation, and make the work undeniable. The asymmetry is real. Pretending it's equal on both sides is either naive or dishonest.

Just beat Halo 1. Very good game overall, especially for its time. The escape scene was cool, but I think the final battle was pretty lackluster and clumsy, it relied on platforming to some extent whereas it could hardly be considered remotely present through the rest of the game (the jumping is floaty and gay so with good reason, I'd say). I'll be playing the next one fairly soon. The good thing about games like this is they're maybe a dozen hours long so it's not some huge commitment.
